Technology is slowly nudging democracy forward. It’s showing that there are new ways of working, and provides citizens with new ways of engaging with their representatives, cities and issues they care about. It is also helping streamline bureaucratic processes, therefore helping governments become more effective and efficient. However, there needs to be more responsible development of technology for democracy – there can’t be tech for the sake of tech. Governments need help implementing it, and citizens need to see that it has real impact for them.
